Q. Why did you choose to study Humanities at McMaster?
A. I chose the Humanities because I was interested in the Cognitive Science of Language program. I was really nervous about my choice at first but after my first term, I knew I had made the right decision. This is a faculty where we learn about the world we live in, ideas are challenged, differences are appreciated, and everything is so applicable to everyday life.

Q. Why did you choose to study Humanities at McMaster University?
A. When visiting McMaster I felt right at home. I chose humanities because of the wide variety of majors it offers. In first year my mind would always change between what I wanted to do, but with the immense amount of courses to choose from I was able to take many courses from different majors. This helped to narrow my decision down to communications. Each major has such an amazing community but not only that the faculty as a whole comes together to promote inclusivity and leadership. There are a lot of opportunities within humanities that people should know more about.

Vice President of Internal Affairs
Program: Honours Cognitive Science of Language Level IV

Q. Why did you choose to study Humanities at McMaster University?
A. I chose to study Humanities at McMaster because of the specific program I was applying to and the different opportunities that would come with it. Humanities at McMaster emphasizes leadership and critical thinking in every program and really teaches us how to use these skills in our daily lives. My program is very interdisciplinary in a sense that incorporates psychology like cognition and child development, and linguistics. In Humanities, there are so many options and areas to explore for future careers and paths. It’s encouraging to know that we’re not stuck in a narrow mindset or have limited choices after our undergraduate studies.

Q. Why did you choose to study Humanities at McMaster University?
A. Programs such as nursing, engineering etc. are highly looked upon and are definitely very important. However, the world and our society would not function the way it does, without the skills that humanities students entail. Humanities students are inclusive, dedicated, and care about an array of issues; the Humanities Society and other clubs under humanities definitely demonstrate these qualities. I love my faculty, more than words can say. No matter who you turn to in the Humanities faculty, you will always be able to find guidance, resources, and kindness. I also value how the humanities program at McMaster is a huge umbrella which allows students to dip their toes into a vast majority of subjects and courses, enabling them to see what is the perfect fit for them.
